How has your life been going lately? Do you feel like you are excelling and growing or do you feel like you’re living within a mediocre bubble?
Too many of us are living mediocre lives and are not even realizing it! We are doing the bare minimum to JUST get by. I do say, if you are happy living the mediocre life, not quite above average but not quite below it, then go for it! I know you have heard me say this over and over again but this time around, I want to challenge you a little bit. If you’re running short on time or hopping in the car to head to work, click here to listen to my podcast episode on mediocrity from February 6.
What about living a mediocre lifestyle makes you happy and feeling charged? What about it brings you pride and feelings of accomplishments? WHAT about mediocrity is so enticing that you WANT to remain there?
Are you afraid of the challenge of working hard to rise above? One of my mentors, Brendon Burchard, always says, “Trust in your abilities to figure things out.” and I could not stress that enough. Do you TRUST yourself and your abilities or are you hiding behind mediocrity because you’re afraid you aren’t able to figure rising to the next level out?
Think about challenging yourself...what do you see? Envision yourself rising to another level to spice up your results, work ethic, and excitement! Set goals for yourself of what you truly see yourself doing; what you feel in your heart and your gut that you should be doing rather than settling where you are at. Setting goals to grow out of mediocrity allows you to show up to work, to your relationships, to your personal goals with a refreshed mindset and clarity--allowing you to create a lifestyle that you may have never thought possible.
With how fast life seems to move around us, mediocrity is bound to show up. But I want, and need, to challenge you today and this week to evaluate where it can be showing up in your life and to decide how you will choose to rise above it. You DO have the abilities, you DO have the potential to rise above mediocrity. But you absolutely have to be able to evaluate your abilities and trust yourself to reach what you know and belief to be true in your heart. Even if it is where you feel most uncomfortable.
