I just got back from an incredible vacation with my family. We shut things down here at Change by Choice for two weeks so that we could really reset and recharge ourselves.
This trip was exactly what I needed in so many ways. To listen to my podcast all about it, head over to Change by Choice.
Something I want you to think about today is how do you recharge yourself?
And do you truly see the value and the importance of doing so?
Whether you’re an entrepreneur who doesn’t know when or how to stop, a business owner who feels unable to take a step back, a student who is overwhelmed and struggling, or a parent who puts everything into the family - whatever role you take in life, this message applies to you.
Think about the different areas of your life that your put your time, focus and energy towards - family, friends, finances, career, spirituality, physical health, education. What isn't at the level that you'd like it to be at? What do you need to do to level up that area of your life?
I don't know the specific answer for you.
But I can tell you this.
You won't find the clarity and the answers you need unless you give yourself the space to find them. That’s why recharging yourself is so critical.
Give yourself the white space, the flexibility, the time and the break from your daily routines to really be mindful and present with yourself. That's when you're going to start to find clarity. ecause once you've given yourself the space and the time, you're better able to reignite some passion and some energy into those areas that are lacking in your life.
The next step to this, is how?
How can you actually disengage from your work to recharge yourself?
I say it all the time, you need to set yourself up for success in this area.
Can you take a week off of work to really be mindful and present? Not a “working vacation”, but a true break from all things work-related? If that’s not in your realm of possibility, can you take a weekend? Or even a day?
You don’t even have to physically go somewhere. The point is to take a step back and really disengage from everything. Connect with yourself; give yourself some white space to be really mindful and present with the people around you. Give yourself permission to let everything else go...at least for the short-term.
As hard as it can be to take a step back and really disengage from your work, I also know how incredibly important it is. I always have a lot on the go. I thrive in being busy and putting my energy into projects that I am aligned with and passionate about. And what I learned through taking this break is that I do need to have work in my life.
But I also hit a major burnout in my life about two years ago, because I wasn’t giving myself that permission to take some white space for myself. So this is a non-negotiable for me. As much as I love my work, I value my family and my health more.
I’ll leave you with this thought.
If the results you are currently getting aren’t connected to the actions you are currently doing, then your actions need to change. What actions are you going to change in your life to get a different result? If you don’t create the space for yourself to reflect on that, then you’re going to be constantly spinning your wheels without a different result.
Things don’t just change.
But when you put attention and focus into each one of your choices, things start to shift.
Give yourself the gift of space to recharge yourself.
